Vigorous, balanced, erect habit, dark green foliage with high rooting capacity.
Big needs of water. Moderately tolerant to Phytophthora, Cactorum and sensitive to Verticilium.
Sensitive to Oïdium during very early season and in autumn on foliage, to purple spots, to red spider.

During full season, the dominant shape is conical and stretched out, with sometimes a flat and square extremity. The elder fruits, at the beginning of harvest, are generally nail shaped with large calibre. The regularity of the fruit shape can vary due to excessive or insufficient cold conditions during winter, or unfavourable environmental conditions during fecundation, even if the pollen fertility is naturally good.
The total number of fruits is lower than ELSANTA's, but the average pondered weight on the harvest period is higher: 19 to 20 grams. The decrease in calibre is limited at the end of harvest.  Skin has a homogeneous brick-red colouring, lacking of gloss in some production conditions. The quantity of hair is generally low, but can increase sometimes in stress conditions. The flesh is light red and firm. Generally speaking, the fruit is not sensitive to bruises, do not turn dark after harvest and is resistant to long distance transport. The brittle [peduncle] favours a high speed of harvest and contributes to slightly decrease the harvest costs. The taste quality (acidity/sugar ratio) and the typical strawberry flavour are really appreciated during the whole period of harvest (spring and autumns harvest). Nevertheless, the sugar formation, the optimal filling of the fruit, and the gloss of the skin are performed at maturity, when the red colouring is homogenous.
The average commercial yield observed during the passed three years varies from 700 to 900 grams per plant. The waste percentage is slightly lower than ELSANTA's.
Suitable for culture under large tunnel and on substrate.

Harvesting speed: the flower sticks are detached from foot; the fruit easy to harvest and the large calibre during the whole harvesting period, have a direct influence on harvesting speed, and so reduces the harvesting costs. Harvesting speed often mentioned by producers: 18 to 25kg per hour, vs 12 to 15 kg/hour for Elsanta.

Agronomical characteristics

Sales eficienciency: for ground growing, it varies from 600 to 800 grams per plant, and can sometimes reach 1kg / plant in optimum growing conditions. Darselect during the 2nd year of growing: when growing conditions are optimum (healthy ground, protection against diseases) and with a minimum of maintenance, Darselect may offer a 2nd year of harvesting with a satisfying level of quantity and fruit quality.
